question 9

What is the other name of asynchronous counters? Why is that name?

  1. Asynchronous counter is otherwise called as Ripple counter b'coz, the flip-flops change one at a time in rapid succession, and the signal propagation through the counter is in a ripple fashion...

  2. it is als calld as ripple counter because of the inherent propagation delay through a flip-flop, the transition of the input clock pulse and a transition of the Q output can never occur at exactly the same time. Therefore, the flip-flops cannot be triggered simultaneously, producing an asynchronous operation.

  3. The other name of asynchronous counter is Ripple counter since the flipflop output transition serves as a source for triggering other flipflops.

  5. other name asynchronous counter is ripple counter since this counter will increment once for every clock cycle and takes two clock cycles to overflow, so every cycle it will alternate between a transition from 0 to 1 and a transition from 1 to 0

  8. assynchronous counters are also known as ripple counters becoz only one clck is used to drive the whole circuit...

  9. asynchronous counters is also called as ripple counter .bcos for one clock pulse the transition alternates from 0 to 1 and then 1 to 0.
